ER 20 COLLET NUT
A precision ground item - not to be confused with some of the cheap import nuts.
35mm OD and with a 25mm x 1.5 pitch thread this nut has the integral eccentric release ring without which the collet jams into the holder and a 30mm (1 3/16") hexagon head to allow the use of a box standard spanner.
These are offered separately as they are many second hand collets chucks out there lacking the nut.
But also offered with this nut are four engineering drawings so you can construct your own collet chuck.
The four drawings are :-
- No.2 Morse taper
- No3 Morse taper
- R8 Taper
- Myford 7 series spindle nose
ER collets can fit milling chucks, lathe spindles, lathe tail stocks and tool and cutter grinders making them the most versatile
If you are thinking of building a spindle why not incorporate these ER nuts into the design and take full use of the advantages that ER collets have to offer.
The advantage of using ER collets are that there are no gaps in the range.
- ER 20 goes from 1mm to 13mm with a closing range of 1mm per collet.
- ER 25 goes from 1mm to 16mm again with a 1mm closing range.
ER collets are the only popular range of collets that can be both work holding and tool holding making full use of a set of collets. No more wondering how you are going to hold that weirdo.
